Woodford Reserve Distillery
As Kentucky’s oldest and smallest distillery, Woodford Reserve, formerly known as the Old Oscar Pepper Distillery and later the Labrot & Graham Distillery, is a National Historic Landmark where Elijah Pepper began crafting whiskey in 1812. Featuring one of the only heat-cycled barrelhouses in the world, Woodford Reserve is the only Bourbon made in copper pot stills with a triple distillation process.
Woodford Reserve Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Woodford Reserves uses the sour mash fermentation process, which is one of the main components contributing to flavor and aroma. Made up of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley, the distillery uses limestone-filtered well water to ferment the grains. It is a very well balanced whiskey which boasts 200 detectable flavor notes. Tasting notes start with honey and mint on the front, followed by tangy pepper, winter spice, espresso, and generous helpings of rye.
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
Double Oaked is made by maturing Woodford Reserve bourbon in a secondary, new charred oak barrel for a little less than a year. This new barrel acts like an injection of flavor, accelerating the wood’s interaction with the distillate in order to create a whiskey with more layers, complexities, and heavier wood flavors. And while Double Oaked is still bottled at 90.4, it should feel like a dramatically different product than traditional Woodford Reserve.
Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select Rye Whiskey
Woodford Reserve Rye uses a pre-prohibition style ratio of 53% rye in its mash bill to pay homage to history’s original rye whiskeys, making spice and tobacco the dominant note among a sea of fruit, floral, and sweet aromatics, which yields a nice sweetness and overall balance.
Woodford Reserve Wheat Whiskey
Woodford Reserve Wheat is based on historical recipes but influenced by the iconic core Woodford Reserve Bourbon brand. Wonderfully creamy with a good helping of fruity sweetness, this expression is made with a mash bill of 52% wheat, 20% malt, 20% corn and 8% rye.
